Steven Lantvit is a full-time Equine professional in training and instruction whose goal is to contribute to the betterment of the relationships between man/woman and horse. His background started from English disciplines such as polo and jumping and has expanded greatly over nearly 2 decades to include the western disciplines. With a wide array of experiences across both disciplines, his focus on training is that of all around horsemanship and the creation of the versatile horse.

Any respected trainer believes in continued education, for himself/herself. As such, Steven's pursuit of advancing his horsemanship and training methods paved the introduction to Craig Cameron, renowned clinician, whose style and philosophies exemplify the true art of horsemanship. This pursuit of education and the desire to learn from one of the greatest horseman of all time has opened the doors for Steven to become Craig Cameron's Midwest Connection. Craig conducts several clinics at Highgrove Farm and Steven is awarded the honor of assisting Craig at horsemanship/training exhibitions and demonstrations across the states.

Steve's Equicizer Testimonial

As a Trainer/Instructor, I am always seeking ways to better my training and instructional methods. I have discovered that an educational tool is only as good as its ability to aid in the communication between instructor and student. If the Student quickly and easily understands the lesson at hand through the use of the tool, then the tool has proven value.

In 2008, Craig Cameron and I met Frankie and Sandy Lovato Jr. and their Equicizers at Equine Affaire in Columbus Ohio. After spending a few minutes at their booth, I immediately realized the benefits these Wooden Horses would add to an instructional riding program.

We had the privilege of having Frankie and Sandy at our September Craig Cameron Clinic at Highgrove Farm for an afternoon education session. They brought 2 horses (Equicizers) for the session and one-by-one the participants hopped on and were coached by Craig and me on how to correct problems they have been encountering in their riding. Things such as improper body positioning, pumping with upper body, leaning forward, legs too far back, poor rhythm, etc… were some of the common riding problems. We were able to help direct their body positioning while in motion, something that is really difficult to do on a live horse. We had one participant that after 30+ years of riding FINALLY felt his hands were out of rhythm with the horse. It took less than one minute for him to FEEL the reins POP the horse in the mouth with each stride. When riding his horse, the horse would respond by raising his head to avoid the POP in his mouth and then lean into the pressure. A lesson well taught by the patient, forgiving Equicizer.

As the other participants took their turn, each had a lesson learned through coaching from Craig and me. These learnings included:

  • Proper use of a “driving seat”
  • Riding in rhythm and rating
  • Proper head, shoulder, hip, leg alignment
  • Riding with a soft lower back
  • Softness in the hands/reins
  • Finding your center of gravity through a balanced seat
We wrapped up the session by showing exercises to better develop riding muscles and to increase balance. It was amazing how many participants had a breakthrough in their riding and the Equicizer made that possible.

We are now the proud owners of “Jazz”, our own Equicizer, of which I use everyday with students, for myself and my wife.

English, Western, Polo, Roping, or Jumping, Equicizer will make you a better rider!
