Meg Hilly

About Meg Hilly
Meg Hilly
Meg Hilly

From an early age of 11 years old, Meg began showing equitation, hunters and jumpers at Boulder Brook Club in Scarsdale, New York. Between High School and college she apprenticed Intructor Philip Ake at Ox Ridge Hunt Club in Darien, Connecticut. After college at the University of Vermont, earning her degree in Art Education, Meg attended the rigorous 9 Month Instructors Course at Morven Park International Equestrian Institute, in Leesburg, Virginia, and was examined by Mary Rose of the British Horse Society.

After attending Morven, Meg then went on to teach students and train horses out of her Dana Hill Stable in Waitsfield, Vermont. Meg also spent many years fox hunting, playing polo, eventing and showing in dressage throughout New England.

To further her education with the USDf programs, Meg apprenticed FEI rider and USDF Instructor Melanie Tenney at BHS approved Woodcock Hill in West Willington, Connecticut. Meg gave lectures and assisted with the BHS assistant Instructor course. Meg is a fan of a wholistic approach to teaching and has participated in many Centered Riding Instructor workshops over the years.

Prior to coming to Nashville, Meg spent many years running her own school of horsemanship with summers in Vermont and winters in Wellington, Florida. She also spent 6 months teaching at the LA Equestrian Center, in Burbank, California, for the Traditional Equitation School. Meg is also a USDF "L" Judges Program graduate and is working toward her USDF silver medal, an FEI rider competing at Prix St. Georges. Meg aspires to ride at the Grand Prix level as her next goal.
