Q: HOW MUCH DOES THE EQUICIZER WEIGH?
A: The Elite and Classic models weigh approximately 160 pounds. The Original model weighs 110 pounds. The Equipony weighs approximately 70 pounds.
Q: WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE EQUICIZER?
A: The Elite and Classic models measure 76 inches in length, 22 inches in width and 35 inches in height to the withers. Optional casters will add 5 inches to the height.
The Original model measures 76 inches in length, 22 inches in width, and 26 inches in height to the withers.
The Equipony model measures 54 inches in length, 16 inches in width, and 25 in height to the withers. Optional casters will add 4 inches to the height.
Q: IS THE EQUICIZER DIFFICULT TO MOVE?
A: The Equicizer and Equipony come equipped with two handles at each end of the horse which allow for easy lifting. It also comes with optional industrial-strength caster wheels which make it very easy to roll. The casters are equipped with locking mechanisms so that the Equicizer stays securely in place, even under the most rigorous of workouts.
Q: DOES THE EQUICIZER REQUIRE ASSEMBLY?
A: The Equicizer comes fully assembled. There are two resistance straps that need to be inserted into the neck and if optional caster wheels are ordered, they are easily attached. Total set-up time is less than 5 minutes. The Equipony does not use resistance straps and comes fully assembled.
Q: HOW DOES THE EQUICIZER WORK?
A: The Equicizer and Equipony are built on a spring balanced suspension system that, when in motion, recreates the natural movement of the horse. It is non-motorized and is controlled entirely by the rider or therapist.
Q: HOW DOES ONE CREATE THE MOTION OF THE HORSE
A: The motion is initiated entirely by the rider with the intensity of the movement dependent upon the rider’s effort, strength and ability. It is created and maintained by the rider’s seat, legs and/or arms. The movement can also be created by a therapist or spotter when used in a therapeutic capacity. The rider is able to emulate the gentle, rocking motion of a horse at the walk, but with increased intensity can build the stride to that of a galloping horse. The Equicizer adapts to the fitness level of the rider.
Q: DOES THE EQUICIZER COME WITH A SADDLE?
A: The Equicizer or Equipony does not come with a saddle. It does come equipped with the bridle and reins. We will soon be offering a variety of products specifically designed for use with the Equicizer and Equipony including saddles and pads, bridles, saddle towels, protective covers and much more.
Q: DO YOU NEED A SADDLE TO RIDE THE EQUICIZER?
A: A saddle is not necessary, but can be used if desired. The contoured body and wither are shaped authentically and are designed to accommodate most saddles and to provide a realistic feel and a balanced ride. The frame is padded and covered with quality materials to provide comfort and durability. You may prefer to use a bareback pad or a bareback pad with stirrups.
Q: DO YOU OFFER A WARRANTY?
A: We offer a one-year warranty on springs and bands. With reasonable care and use, the Equicizer should last many years and may never require servicing.
Q: DOES THE EQUICIZER REQUIRE ANY MAINTENANCE?
A: The Equicizer is virtually maintenance free. There are two resistance straps in the neck that may require replacement every 2-4 years. These are covered during the one-year warranty.
Q: HOW MUCH ROOM IS NEEDED TO RIDE OR STORE THE EQUICIZER?
A: A 6 foot by 8 foot area is recommended for riding the Equicizer comfortably. The Equicizer can be stored in a 2 foot by 7 foot area.
Q: HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN THE EQUICIZER HOLD?
A: The Equicizer is designed to withstand a maximum weight of 400 pounds.
The Equipony is designed to withstand a maximum weight of 200 pounds.
Q: HOW SAFE IS THE EQUICIZER TO RIDE?
A: The Equicizer and Equipony were designed with safety in mind. They are covered and padded and all the mechanics are safely inside and below the horses. When used properly, they are very safe. As with any exercise equipment, we cannot be held responsible for any misuse of the Equicizer or Equipony. We recommend that when using the Equicizer for exercise or rehabilitation, or when beginning any exercise or training program, you consult your physician to ensure your health and well being will not be at risk.
Q: HOW SOON WILL MY EQUICIZER ARRIVE AFTER IT IS ORDERED?
A: As each horse is custom manufactured, order time is approximately three to six weeks. Freight may take approximately 3-10 business days, depending on location. We can ship worldwide. Please order accordingly. On a rare occasion, we will have one or two models in stock, so please don’t hesitate to inquire!
Q: WHAT COLORS DO THE EQUICIZER AND EQUIPONY COME IN?
A: Our horses come in a variety of “realistic” horse colors…Dark Brown (Bay), Light Brown (Buckskin), Grey (Charcoal), Chestnut (sunset-red). You can find a sample of these colors located in our Equicizer Photo Gallery. There are other colors that may be available. We have made horses in such unrealistic colors as Blue and Green. We will do our best to honor special requests. You can ask, we can try!
Q: CAN THE EQUICIZER BE USED BY ADULTS AND CHILDREN?
A: The Equicizer can be used safely by riders of all ages. We do recommend that very young riders, very mature riders or those with special needs be supervised or supported as necessary.
Q: DO I HAVE TO BE AN EQUESTRIAN TO ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF THE EQUICIZER?
A: No. The Equicizer is an excellent way to build strength and stamina. It can be used to isolate muscle groups and to target specific areas of the body, much like the equipment used in Pilates or resistance-based exercise equipment. Unlike most exercise equipment used for weight or resistance training, the Equicizer has the added benefit of offering a cardiovascular workout as well. One can use the Equicizer for weight or resistance training and aerobic conditioning, separately or at the same time! It is the best of both worlds!
The Equicizer has also been used for entertainment purposes in television and movies as well as fundraising events and functions. It is not your typical treadmill or home gym…it looks much more attractive in your living room and can be an interesting conversation piece! Great to ride and watch your favorite show on television!
Q: IS THE EQUIPONY ONLY FOR CHILDREN AND IS IT JUST A TOY?
A: The Equipony is a replica of the Equicizer at a reduced size. It was designed for children ages 2-10 years old. The Equipony is designed to hold a maximum of 200 pounds and can be used by adults in circumstances where the Equicizer may not be appropriate. The Equipony is an excellent therapeutic tool, but its charm also makes it one of the nicest gifts a child could ever receive! Q: CAN THE EQUICIZER TEACH YOU HOW TO RIDE A REAL HORSE?
A: The Equicizer provides the essentials of a real horse and one can certainly learn the fundamentals or basics of horseback riding. We do recommend that you work with a trainer or riding instructor before mounting or actually riding a real horse. The Equicizer is an excellent way to prepare for riding and also to reinforce riding skills once you have begun a lesson program.
